John WITMER

John was willed a farm in Susquehanna Twp. by his father (Deed G-427, Mifflin County Courthouse, Lewistown, Pennsylvania). He died intestate (Orphan Court Records 4-472, 4-350, and 6-218, Lewistown) in possession of a large farm on which he had erected a beautiful stone house in 1792. He had also erected a large stone mill next to the house on the Manhantango Creek. The house is still standing (1988) but the mill is gone.

454. In this article it states that John died 3 June 1817.


21. Elizabeth WITMER

In 1829 Elizabeth Miller received 65 acres in Greenwood Twp., Juniata Co., and
Chapman Tap., Snyder Co., Penn., from the estate of her father (Deed C-112,
Mifflintown, Penn.). By 1839 she was living in Northumberland Boro, Penn. In
1842 she and her husband were living in Juniata Co. When she wrote her will in
1858 she was again a widow and made bequests to several of her nieces and
nephews (Will B-153, Mifflintown, Penn.).

26. Magdalena WITMER

Magdalena Witmer was living next to her brother Abram Witmer at the time of
the 1850 census. She wrote a will on Jan 17, 1851, in which she mentions her
living brothers and sisters as well as several of her nephews and nieces. She
named Abraham, son of her brother Jacob Witmer, her executor (Will A-417,
Mivvlintown, Penn.).


4. Johannes SHOPP

John is listed in his father's will.

Information was taken from "Shopp's Station" written by Nora B. Thompson (FHL Film 1466019).

Johannes was left all of his father's land at the time of his death. John
also bought more land in Lot #23 in the Manor of Lowther, known as
"Westmoreland". In fact he bought and sold land all his life. At his death he
owned about 353 acres.

Johannes Shopp of East Pennsboro township died intestate. Letters of
Administration were granted, October 24, 1821 to his sons John Shopp and
Christopher Shopp.
